Born in Quito, Ecuador on January 6, 1956, Jorge Pinos attended both elementary and high school in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He came to the United States in 1974 where he attended UCLA between 1976 and 1980, with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Economics.
In the fall of 1981, he joined the William Morris Agency as a trainee in the Music Department. Jorge was instrumental in the building of the International Music Department, working over the years with such artists as Juan Gabriel, Lucero, Thalia, Jose Feliciano, Jennifer Peña, Obie Bermudez, Jaime Camil, Gloria Estefan, Miami Sound Machine, Jon Secada, La Ley, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Diana Ross , Christian Castro, Paul Rodriguez, Roberto Carlos, Jose Luis Rodriquez, Rick Treviño, Maxi Priest, Crosby Stills and Nash, Juanes, Cabas, Sissi, Ivonne Armant, Emmanuel, Yes, Bee Gees, Julia Butterfly, Arturo Sandoval, Bacilos, Alexandre Pires, Sandy and Junior, Christian de la Fuente, Angelica Castro, Jerry Rivera, Martika, Maria Conchita Alonzo, Paul Anka, Blondie, Camilo Sesto, Spirit of Unity, Kaoma, Amanda Miguel, Diego Verdaguer, Miguel Bose, La Mafia, Selena y los Dinos, Emilio Navaira, Azul Azul, Joaquin Cortes, Daisy Fuentes, Marisela, Menudo, Carlos Ponce, Akwid, Leslie Ann Machado, and Soda Stereo.
Jorge was involved in the booking of all of the artists from the William Morris Agency’s Music Department in the territories of Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Southeast Asia, and China.
As the first agent to book Latin international artists into mainstream American venues, Jorge has given visibility to the Latino artists in the United States. He has also helped to improve his clients’ international images and record sales by booking them in new territories abroad. Jorge is indeed a legend and a well respected name in the international industry.
He has been honored with awards such as the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, and a recipient of both the Vision Award at the 2001 Imagen Awards and the Unsung Hero Award at the 2001 Prism Award. He has also been highlighted in the Heavy Hitters list of the Latino Power Issue of Daily Variety, listed in the Hispanic Business, Career, Politics & Culture as one of the “Top 25 Hispanics in the Music Industry,” and in Latino Impact as one of the “100 Latinos on the Move.”
After 24 years with the William Morris Agency as a Senior Vice-president, Jorge decided to open his own company in April 2005, JEP Entertainment Group, Inc. Jorge’s vision has been to be able to branch out into different fields of the entertainment industry, continuing to help his clients break into new territories within the United States and internationally.
His current clients include such chart-toppers as Roberto Carlos, Raphael, Albert Hammond, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Billy Ocean, Christopher Cross, Maxi Priest Paul Anka, Huey Dunbar, Emmanuel, Charlie Zaa, and Conjunto Primavera, Paquita la del Barrio amongst other current projects he works in, including the representation in the US of one of the biggest promoters in Australia Van Egmond Group, who joined forces with Pinos in mid 2013 with the plans on using expertise in concert bookings and bringing A list ARTIST into the territory.
